Midweek Mix: Vacation Edition

by Joli

Hello bookish people! This Midweek Mix is a special edition because (drum roll please)…I’m going on vacation! Huzzah! Although I got married 2.5 years ago, the hubby and I are finally taking the vacation that we’re calling our honeymoon.

Glacier National Park

Glacier National Park

How amazing does this look?? We’ll be hopping on the Amtrak train and heading to Glacier National Park! We’ll be hiking, kayaking, exploring Montana mountain towns, eating a lot, and just relaxing and enjoying ourselves. I’m beyond excited.

Reading on the Train

I’ve never been on an Amtrak, so I’m not sure if I’ll be affected by motion sickness or not. I’m bringing my pressure point wrist bands, just in case, and I’m also armed with audiobooks! I’m not much of an audiobook person at the moment, but perhaps after this trip, I will be. I think audiobooks will also help me be able to keep my eyeballs on the passing scenery, instead of on book pages. I picked three VERY different audiobooks!

Why not me?  Jane Eyre  Britt-Marie Was Here

Reading in the Mountains

This is the book I’m reading for book club this month. I don’t usually enjoy thrillers, but I’m going to read this one because the author is going to be making an appearance at our book club! Super excited for that! So, I’ll be diving into this while on vacation…hopefully with mountains as my backdrop.
The Life We Bury

LQ While I’m Gone

Have no fear! LQ will stay active while I’m gone, thanks to my wonderful contributors! A special thanks to Becky in particular for keeping the blog and social media profiles going while I’m gone.

Now, question for all of you! Have you read or listened to the books I’ve chosen for my trip?? Of course, many have read Jane Eyre…I’m almost embarrassed to admit that I haven’t! Yikes.

I just recently listened to The Life We Bury. I’ll be interested to hear your take on it. It’s based in MN, so it was fun to be able to picture exactly where he was. The narrator was appropriate for the main character, which I appreciated. It was, in my opinion, a pretty good read.

Hey Deb! I’m glad to hear a good review from a Minnesotan. With the author being at our book club, if I don’t like it a whole lot, wouldn’t that be awkward to share my opinion with him there? Haha. I’ll definitely spin up a review when I’m done with it!
