Review: Daily Kindess

Why: Honestly, I start feeling depressed when I dig into current events in the United States and around the world. From natural disasters to man-made Twitter storms, there is just so much negativity that I start to feel tired and heavy. When Daily Kindness (a National Geographic book) came across the fall book tour list,  Joli suggested it to me, and I knew it was just the kind of book I needed right now!

Story: This book is a daily, dated read, and each page or spread has an uplifting quote that reminds us of the good in the world. The quotes are accompanied by exquisite National Geographic photography of all sorts and offer a brief reprieve from the heaviness of our busy lives. With each change of month, there is a different characteristic to focus on, that all tie back in to kindness.

Opinion: I love this book and have a feeling that I would also enjoy it’s companions Daily Love, Daily Peace, A Year of Daily Gratitude and 1,001 Ways to Slow Down which Joli reviewed HERE. National Geographic photographers have a skill for showing beauty in its natural state which is both soothing and inspiring. With hate and harm dominating headlines, I appreciate having a few moments each day to dedicate to kindness and positivity. I was also pleasantly surprised to feel no underlying motivation behind the book, just an intent to welcome, encourage and support each other.

Recommendation: This is a great book for anyone who enjoys the practice of a daily read, stunning photography and/or inspirational and motivational quotes. The content and sources are so varied that the quotes touch on almost any topic one could think of. To me, this allows it to resonate with a wide audience in a variety of capacities. For our readers who are also writers, I think this would be a fantastic book to promote journaling. Taking the quote and digesting how it does, or could, apply to your life would be an extension worthy of exploring.

Special thanks to TLC Book Tours for the book in exchange for my honest review!

Taking the time to slow down and savor the moment is something I really struggle with. This book might be a great way for me to practice.

Thanks for being a part of the tour!
